Investigator for STScI funding of an instrumental upgrade to the
University of Hawaii's Image Stabilizing Instrument System (ISIS).
Completed and delivered in 1986, the upgraded ISIS resulted in improved
resolution. The allotted telescope time was largely

range. First demonstration of the use of CCDs for single-photon X-ray
imaging and spectroscopy, and development ofdeep-depletion CCDs for
X-ray applications. Supervision and management of engineering and
